Martin Haese is an entrepreneur, educator, public figure and strong advocate for Adelaide’s standing as one of the world’s most liveable cities. As a former retail entrepreneur, he built and sold a national retail chain and later became the General Manager of the Rundle Mall Management Authority. In 2014, Martin was directly elected as the 78th Lord Mayor of Adelaide, an office he held until November 2018.
Martin has an MBA and was a guest lecturer teaching entrepreneurship for universities and colleges across Australia for several years. He was the national Chair of the Council of Capital City Lord Mayors in 2015, has travelled widely and done business internationally.
As Lord Mayor of Adelaide, Martin drove strong investment, sustainability and technology agendas culminating in Carbon Neutral Adelaide 2025, Ten Gigabit Adelaide and many initiatives to support small business. He continues to advocate for subjects as diverse as heritage protection, historic motoring, the Adelaide Park Lands, tourism growth, international trade and technological disruption. As a musician, he widely promotes Adelaide as a UNESCO City of Music.
Martin is the Chairman of the Premier’s Climate Change Council and commences as CEO of Business SA on 20 May 2019.
There are many great things happening in SA and many more set to take off soon but how can we communicate this to the world and even within SA with limited traditional media options we need to get smarter in taking SA to the world.
Our panel is diverse in terms of background and expertise but all have great visions for what can be done with the Media, the marketing and the Messaging.

Responsible for the commercial, operational and marketing activities management as well as financial modelling and strategic milestones for Loyalty Programs commissioned by Fawaz AlHokair Group - for the largest foodservice company in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
MayzBXL is a global company based in Belgium specialising in technology, with R&D in Netherlands. They are an international solutions provider and system integration company that supports its clients' pursuit for operational excellence, efficiency and profitability. For example, they have innovated an ultra-wide band radio frequency based RTLS appliance with capabilities to track, monitor, report and control any movable thing.
Nikki Carter - Content, Brand and Marketing Strategist
With over ten years experience in the public relations, marketing communications and management industry Nikki has worked with a variety of clients (inc the Adelaide City Council) on developing communication strategies to increase brand awareness and communicate their message.
In 2009 Nikki co-wrote the Grumpy Old Managers Guide To Social Media Marketing to help people better understand how to use Social Media for business.
Now as Creative and Digital Lead for Multinational MLM - Modere she is responsible for supplying content to help their large base of Associates (Social Marketers) in Aust and NZ grow their business and the Modere brand.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication and Media Management from the University of South Australia and is currently studying a Bachelor of Behavioural Studies (Psychology).
Peter Muscet - Publisher | Editor in Chief | Digital Publishing Specialist & Media Professional
At the beginning of 2010 Peter launched a truly global magazine, Australian Wine Showcase, with three different editions - USA, UK, / Europe and Asia – the magazine’s focus is on promoting Australian wines onto the world market. It proved so popular that it was released into the Australian Market in 2012.
In addition he manages a media representation business covering national and international media as well as various outdoor and ambient media assets.
Peter also acts as a consultant to other media on strategies ranging from boosting readership/audience to how to move into the digital space and how to monetize opportunities with their sales teams.
